    This film has no right to be this goddamn excellent. Script and direction are completely unleashed from any mainstream conventions, yet it still delivers its very own take on the archetype of pop-culture narratives. Nearly every scene lands perfectly. Incredible directing choices. Given all this, even its somewhat weaker third act is easily excused. Everything in this feels so forbiddingly fresh and exciting, it's almost unbelievable from today's perspective. Early Shyamalan was built different.
