The Boy and the Heron 2023
A great film of the late Hayao Miyazaki uses fantastical designs beautiful imagery and soundscape to tell a personal story. From terrifying bird designs to the newborn souls each character and creature has a destination style reminiscent of his previous work. I enjoyed the unique animation and complex crowded sequences. It goes to show that Miyazaki is a master of his craft, sneaking small subtle gestures and Easter eggs. Sometimes sound is cut all together, letting the animation speak for itself. Going in blind is the best way to view the film. Having to unstable the mystery and motivations of the story was an enjoyable experience.

All the puzzle pieces come together. great colors and cinematography. Creature design and scenario was lovecraftian and arrival-like. Monkey was great. Good commentary on real world events. If ya think this is political in anyway imma do u like gordy
