The Order has literally come out of nowhere and landed itself at my #4 spot of the year. A perfect blend of Heat and Blackkklansman that has you on the edge of your seat from the first startling gunshot to the final one.

Jude Law is utterly fantastic as Terry Husk, a grizzled and determined FBI agent who feels as if he can wash the sins of his past away in the blood of a man who thinks himself pure.…

“Wicked: The Film or the fantabulous Wonka-fication of Oz”

I’ve got to admit as someone who’s only seen the original classic twice and not yet had the privilege to see the stage play, I had zero expectations for this until the reviews started pouring in. With all the acclaim and high praise I knew I had to check this out. I’m pretty glad I did as well because I honestly had an absolute blast watching this.

    The musical numbers are…

Week 10: A film with a woman’s name in the title

Insiang is dark, but not in the way we’re used to. It’s not got any brooding atmosphere or extreme “violence”, all it has is an extremely depressing atmosphere of hate and resentment that never ceases. Our protagonist is consistently bombarded with hateful rhetoric from her mother and unwanted advances from a perspective boyfriend and her creepy uncle.

It’s a darkness of the soul that permeates the…

Week 8: Watch a film that was nominated for best ensemble at the SAG awards

The Imitation Game surpassed every expectation I had for it. I was expecting a generic, but still decent biopic, but this was truly sensational! The entire ensemble is fantastic and this story is captivating. A must watch for fans of World War cinema and a must watch for those who don’t yet know the story of Alan Turing and is undeniable impact on the world to this day.

    The Criterion Challenge

    #20 Spine #451-499

Wings of Desire was one of my most anticipated films for not only this challenge but my watchlist. I adore Wim Wenders and his works and I was hopeful that a spiritual story from him would be exactly what I needed. While I am a tad disappointed with my experience, I still enjoyed this.

The performances are amazing and Bruno Ganz plays an angel to perfection, which is crazy as he’s also the same…

    The Criterion Challenge

    #19 1980’s

I was quietly excited to watch The Outsiders, I had read the book in middle school and enjoyed it, plus it was directed by the great Francis Ford Coppola. Sadly, my expectations were not met and I found myself rather disinterested for a majority of the runtime. I didn’t care for any of the characters aside from Johnny. It’s one of those films that requires you to feel sorry for these characters despite their actions…
