I expected to like this movie a lot more than I did. The first 40-60 minutes I was convinced I was going to love it, but I personally didn't think its kind of one point can sustain it for the considerable runtime. A person who lives their life somewhat in public can make bad decisions while simultaniously having these decisions look even worse by the magnifying glass that is public perception. Barbie 2023
Just such a fun ride when you watch it the first time. Definitely reminded me how much I love big musical numbers especially in the dance off subgenre. But I would not really recommend watching this a second time, which took the shine off a little bit for me. The emotional core is just somewhat underdeveloped and that "well, I guess it still kinda IS a very big toy commercial" feeling crept in more than I would have liked. Still an enjoyable movie though!
