It’s been ten years since this film came out and wandered into my life. At first it was a simple enjoyment of filmmaking, but as time went on. A feeling for this film grew immensely. Whether it was with every new watch, and looking at it from a different perspective. 10 years later I have a tattoo of Stay in Morse code in the silhouette of the black hole. A reminder that my connection or love with my dad sometimes…

    WE’RE SOOOOOOOOO BACK.

Am I biased because I saw the cast and Ryan Gosling smiled in my general vicinity again so five stars!!!!!!!! A movie that celebrates the fundamental backbone of movies which is those stunt teams!!!! Those people who make the movie magic. God Ryan Gosling you look way too good in this and I wasn’t prepared in the slightest. Does this film kinda lose it while it pushes the gas pedal yeah but I had fun and I’m more than happy to see it again and again!!!!!!!!

Colt Seavers that’s my Babygirl. 🫶🏻

It’s oddly poetic to weave a tale of magical realism while embracing the importance of Day of the Dead. The supernatural vist crosses the boundaries between the living and the dead, and the dream of revolution. Loved the camerawork by Gabriel Figueroa here. The way the caves are depicted, the monumental churches, and the dreams animated by those skeleton puppets.

It’s a meditation on the inevitability of death, and that the fleeting of life can be at any moment.

An interesting story carving into the gangster world and the bonds that tie the world of the Triads together. There is no honor and loyalty amongst the criminal class. It almost feels like it mirrors what happens in Macbeth in a similar fashion. While one boisterous character fights reason and any common sense to go and fight Lok.

It establishes the characters very well and gives information about the parts they play as a whole.

It does a really nice use of blocking and style POV switches that are vital to the overall story. I’ll admit some of the switches had me slightly confused, but it’s fine. Samara is great when things start to pick up, and Alba is exceptionally good here as well. Very expressive and that singing??? Dang.

I wish it brought a bit more to the table, but it was still fun for the time being.

Very tight and precise in its cinematography. It’s an interesting slow burn that works for the duration, but I couldn’t help but want something more from this. Everyone in this cast is great in this all around. Some great humor in this, particularly the satellite imaging part don’t know why that got me so bad. Overall, I had fun! I think I just wanted more of the spy factor.
