Funny Games 1997
A sadistic and brilliant look into the horror that flipping social expectations can induce. Keeps you on the edge with great cinematography and performances. A good use of breaking the fourth wall allows Haneke to talk directly to the audience, showing who the movie is actually about.

Oppenheimer 2023
Great storytelling and striking visuals make this three-hour dialogue movie feel like all-action. Nolan is undoubtedly a master, yet I wish he would be willing to experiment and innovative a bit more, as he has done with many of his other films. The information density can also make it feel a little disconnected at times. Overall an impressive and good movie.

Decision to Leave 2022
Beautiful movie, heavily stylized, and thoroughly obsessed with perfect camera movement, composition, and color work. Unfortunately, it falls apart in the story department, seemingly both too simplistic, repetitive, and drawn out. Not one of Park Chan-wooks greatest works, but certainly a treat for anyone interested in great cinematography.

Where the Crawdads Sing 2022
An interesting concept and setting is let down by a movie speaking in cliches and one-liners, populated by two-dimensional characters and weak storytelling. The unimpressive acting makes some of the captivating scenes feel dull and forgettable. The cinematography is over-the-top and cutting too fast-paced, seemingly striving for action, where otherwise beautiful depictions of the marshlands could have been speaking for themselves.
