  More about the human desire to control and capture trees than our ‘entanglements’ really. Appreciated the bit about Beth Moon but bonsai’s are about the most far removed from wilderness as you can get. And the criticism of the major lumber company and their massive land ownership completely disappeared in the second part. As if planting new trees can replace the 55 year old ones when all they’re being planted for is to be cut down again. Would have added more about the importance of conserving forests, not just individual trees.

  Sick of the same power hungry male narrative. The female character had no depth as per usual. His war tactics and climb to power were glorified, even if his character was ridiculed.
