Not as good as Spirited Away, but I feel as if the last 10 minutes of the film redeem the slow pacing and perhaps underwhelming rest of the film. Of course I enjoyed it, but there was something about the world that didn’t quite strike me down in its depth, as Miyazaki’s creations often do.
Ultimately, the final part of the film urges us on a hopeful and poignant path. Mahito ends his journey as the audience do: accepting, even cherishing, his lot in life; the good, the bad, the loss, and the gains.
Also Warawara 🥺🥺
