Loved everything about this! Not sure if this was intentional, but it was a bit hard to pinpoint at what point this film takes place- 80s? 21st century? I'm leaning towards that this was on purpose to give the film a timeless aspect to it since the subject matter transcends any time.

Coraline 2009
Saw this for the first time for the 15th anniversary 3D screening. Loved it, but honestly don't see why it's a lot of people's favorite amongst the Laika films. Didn't hate it, but I do like some of laikas other work more. Though it is their first film, so I think that is something special.

Have not seen the original but have heard about some of the key differences between the two films, mainly about the social commentary aspect. But besides that, very good tension throughout the film but on the flip side there are situations that seem so easily avoided and some characters just make very unbelievable choices.
