The House That Jack Built 2018
I want to press the 5 star rating on this for so many reasons. Darkly hilarious, morbidly violent and, 50% of the time, potently poignant. However, Trier’s genius is almost always muddled by his ego. His need to make self-aggrandising gestures and falsely meaningful monologues ruins the pacing of the final half of the film. It also pulled me out of the world that Matt Dillon had so eloquently brought me in to (holy shit he was fantastic in this).
