Rotoscoping Cab Calloway dancing with crazy and wacky animations/ideas from the 30s, nuf said.
Another brilliant film from Robert Eggers, cinematography was amazing, costuming was top notch, and dialogue felt organic to the time period. I want to give this film 5 stars, but I want to give his whole filmography a watch once more to see if it is as good as the lighthouse.
Another good point about this movie is that unlike some other films, notably VVitch and The Lighthouse, there is a plot that is followed through and clearly stated which makes it more approachable for those interested in his work.
Solid film that I recommend all people interested in good horror to watch this film.
It’s a bad b-horror film that was rampant in the late 2010s and into the beginning of lockdown. It’s filled with just enough substance to keep you going but dry enough to make you groan at very dumb plot points. Ending has an interesting twist that should’ve been elaborated on earlier. Overall a borderline okay movie with minimal engagement besides the absurdity of a killer sofa. Recommended to watch on a bad movie marathon.
