I like when Robert Pattinson acts like a gremlin, but it can only carry a movie so far.
There were really cool ideas sprinkled throughout. I was, however, really irked by the political satire. It treaded no new ground and the Trump parallels felt hacky (I don’t disagree with the messaging, it was just unbearably surface level). I don’t want Bong Joon-Ho movies to feel like a throw away Jimmy Fallon bit.
The climax and ending of this movie just plain sucked too. I know this movie wasn’t trying to be another Parasite/Memories of Murder, but Bong’s other satirical movies had more focus and nuance.

My Cousin Vinny 1992
this movie has a unique premise that complimented the two genres it was trying to convey, comedy and courtroom. the cherry on top for this amalgamation was definitely joe pesci, if anyone else were cast in his role then this movie would definitely have a drop in quality. nothing super impressive on the technical side but the writing is sharp and engaging. also marisa tomei is fine as hell in this movie so yeah.
