  Flawed masterpiece but the mastery outweighs the flaws. This is formally audacious in an unprecedented way for Nolan: the drowning of sound from the frame, J cuts (stomping of feet on the bleachers) that pay off immensely, rapid-fire surreal montage which penetrates our consciousness with associations that we don’t have time to process, and much more.
