We finally went and saw this thing. Lots of nerdy plot about the nature of folk music and an artist evolving his sound and politics all while being a flawed 20 something. But its also big and exciting, a crowd pleaser that’ll keep you interested whether ur a dylan head or a music journalist who has gotten by never listening to him. i enjoyed the singing even though it came from these actors and there was a lot of it.…

after we watched this, a friend enthusiastically compared it to scrolling on Tiktok, which would normally be the last way I'd want to interpret a great movie. but the fact that a movie so considered, so emotionally charged, textured and full of complex characters can thrive in the same part of one’s brain as that attention-draining app is why it’s brilliant.
