Still great. Camera work is great, not as shaky or “try to be authentic street film work” like in Breathless. Also not as overtly French New Wave. Just succeeds at being a good movie and carries the main themes of death anxiety and insignificance in society even for celebrities very well. Each scenes plays out like a tarot card, making the opening scene even better and one of a kind.
For a directorial debut very ambitious editing and camera shots. Some reminiscent of Murnau’s static shots in Tabu. And Billy Wilder’s definitive style already comes through. Car chase scenes around 1930’s Paris, what’s not to like? Felt like a 1930’s carved down version of Baby Driver.
