The Monkey 2025
Good companion to Longlegs. Hit different buttons while retaining Perkins’ very particular / hard-to-pin-down style and tone (that I’m growing very fond of). Pay off wasn’t as impactful as Longlegs, and it was stretched out too far narratively, but I enjoyed the overall levity and giddy murder mayhem. Was also simultaneously disturbing and refreshing to immerse in a world where the absurdity and cruelty of death is normalized to the point where characters react not in fear but in befuddled annoyance. Fun time.
