This is hands down the best One Piece film. You can tell that the production process for this movie was accompanied by a full understanding of what makes the series special. Watch this movie if you've seen more of the recent One Piece films: I promise it's worth it.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for more 'weekend getaway at the homestead of Count Orlok' from this. The atmosphere is an absolute spectacle; the pacing supported by that atmosphere, however, feels inconsistent and slogs around the midpoint. The first act might be some of my favorite filmmaking ever conceived—I had the widest grin all the way up until the Nicholas Hoult exorcism. A shame that the following sequences can't sustain the heights. Incredibly fun watch from Eggers regardless.
