Rohmer illustrates a certain intimacy in his writing that is undoubtedly sophisticated and yet so absolute. One of the few films that assists to intelligent cinema completely and is so dandy and stylish. You won't find a spectacular plot here but instead something heavy in dialogue that touches you more on an emotional or mental level and requires more patience and thought. Shot down for being his most cinematographically pretentious film may be the reason I commend it so highly.

Contempt is a glorious adventure through visually stimulating color schemes, perky yet profound dialogue, and a score so grand it demands to be heard. Godard has a way of capturing mundane things, almost like recollected memories. Denouncing himself of all his previous works and film styles, what is brought to us is truly one of a kind. Leave me as I sulk over how sublime this film was.
