  It is a scary thing to adapt a game into a movie because so many things can go wrong, but this one was made brilliantly. Every thing happens so fast, and it's a joyful ride full of references. The instrumental music is on point, and the voice acting was good, especially for Bowser and Toad.

  It's always a hit or miss with this director, so it wasn't surprising that this one didn't hit the mark. They had to explain the plot of the movie to the main characters and the audience over and over again, and what is said to happen... just happens. Dave Bautista's acting is the highlight of the movie, but not enough to save it.
