  I don’t even know what this says about pop culture/ mainstream cinema but I really hate it. It’s really bad, offensive, and tedious.

  It is the kind of movie only a truly French person could make.

  I love movies that filter between reality and dreams. Eggers is great at capturing that hazy intersection, full of familiar and vastly strange images, a blending of eroticism and desire and shame. I think he cares less about putting his personal input into what he creates, and more about recreating a period of time no matter how uncomfortable it can be.
