  I love Nic Cage and I liked his character in this film, but he just felt so out of place here in an otherwise very serious movie. Every time we saw him, it took me completely out of the moment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

  Original take on the slasher genre with some brilliant practical effects. I would have preferred the final scene to go down differently than how it did, but I didn't hate the direction that it chose to go. And let's be honest, if it did end with the killer returning for one last kill, we'd all be complaining that it was too predictable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  An interesting premise unfortunately ruined by multiple plot holes and almost every character being an insufferable asshole.

  What even was the initial plan? To capture evidence of paranormal activity using illegally recorded footage of unwilling participants? How was that going to help get his friend out of prison?

  Then a guy walks off of a balcony and is never mentioned again, despite the police being called, no body is found... nobody saw anything and the kids are accused of lying...…

  I’d need to rewatch the first 6 films to confirm the following statement, but I believe this to be the best of the series so far.

  I watched this just 3 days after returning from France so it was nice to see the scenes shot in Paris. Tom Cruise is great as always and Vanessa Kirby as the White Widow was also very good. 8/10
