A good action film, and a definite improvement.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales 2017
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Wonderful. I loved almost everything about this movie, especially the way it returned to the epic proportions, emotion, and beautiful character development of the original trilogy whilst still pursuing its own ends.
The most obvious flaw is the acting itself: Depp is off, Henry and Carina’s characters feel a bit shallow, but Bardem and the subplots were fantastic, and the film actually manages to capitalize magnificently on Stranger Tides’ failures by using it to properly distance Dead Men Tell No Tales from the trilogy it expands upon. Wonderful.
P.S. the opening sequence is sick.

Shock and Awe 2017
The juxtaposition between the film’s conflicting comedic and serious vibes fails to parallel the juxtaposition between the two truths at war in the plot, whether or not that is what Reiner was trying to. Nonetheless, the chemistry between Marsden and Harrelson is wonderfully noteworthy.
Despite the disruption the excellent but poorly integrated comedy causes to the film, Reiner manages to correctly portray cynical journalism that prioritizes truth and criticizes corrupt government as patriotic, as it should be considered. The subplot with the wounded soldier amplifies this effect.
