  not for me i fear. watched on a recommendation and so maybe i had too high expectations for it?

  i think theres an unfortunate soundtrack and look to this movie. it feels cheap, and probably is, but doesnt seem to want to do anything to mask that. if there was an attempt to lean in, it backfired.

  plot wise there isn’t really any buildup, either. there are some very minor incidents and a few ghost stories to kick it off,…

  loved this tbh. it stumbles around the middle but that’s mostly because the first act is so nonstop that when it slows down even a bit you feel it way harder than expected. the deaths were fun, the gore was sometimes really good. i get the vibe they knew their limits really well and so when a death sequence couldn’t look “good” they especially camped it up.

  whatever pacing and tone issues there are, they’re handled by the end of it. i really expected a bleak ending, but it was so hopeful for what it was! very nice little surprise.
