Personally, Noah came off as pushy and not going to lie a bit unhinged at the start of the movie. Like, if this dude was some average fucker and not Ryan Gosling, literally none of what he does to get Allie's attention would fly, right? I finished the movie a few months ago, watched all 3 hours of it at once.
My friends, relatives, family friends, have all recommended that this movie was one of the movies you should watch, and have seen this movie in the "Top 100 movies to watch before you die" list multiple times.

i really don't see the hype.
boy gets kidnapped, has to kill the guy who kidnapped him to get out thats it.
okay? its the plot of literally every kidnap film, also everytime the kidnapper is a little pedo-y and we had that too. im not saying it was terrible, but i just don't see how people like it so much?

aand we're back to me hating on films.
I think it's mediocre but way blown up because of the time. The quality is cheap and the acting, to me, seemed way off. And the general plot was super contrived.
maybe its because of my distinct hatred of badly made torture porn but i'm not sure. its far too over-hyped for such a plain film. well maybe plain isn't the right word, it certainly had gore and guts but i mean was the gore and guts well placed?
anyways, its definitely not a rewatch for me.
