One of those endings that I think is ultimately a truer act of kindness to the character than I expected from this kind of movie even though it makes me deeply sad. I felt like it was more of a coming of age and a genuine love story than some inescapable self made hell (ie 5 easy pieces, night moves), though the world we leave her in is unsparing and true. Vulnerability left bare in the cold.
GTA IV ass movie though. Niko Bellic would have handled this whole situation.
Honestly felt like it veered away from the deep exploration of David Chase and how his life fed into the sopranos and vice versa towards the end and became another straightforward retrospective on the series with some interesting insights into Chase and his life and relationships. Felt like there was a lot more to dive into there but maybe that has a lot to do with Chase’s own reluctance to talk about himself. Also that ending was just hacky, unlike the actual ending of the sopranos
