  what more could a woman want than being called “monkeyface” by a man? 

  watching early hitchcock is so jarring because what is with that whimsical, goofy score? the ending sucks so bad. it literally feels like a last minute script rewrite because ? it’s the same vibe of woman of the year where it doesn’t really make sense or work.

  maybe because this is a ryan murphy production (and it took me 5 years to finally watch it) i didn’t go in with high expectations so i didn’t have the visceral reaction everyone else seems to have had. i really only tuned in for david corenswet who definitely has the dorky clark kent vibes down. 

  this is ridiculous ryan murphy slop, but sorry i enjoy his non-AHS slop sometimes. also the way some people in the reviews are calling this “porn” need to put away their smelling salts. there’s maybe a handful of sex scenes and they’re all fully clothed.

  this could’ve been such a great documentary if there was any sort of coherent direction. there are no interviews with anyone who worked with donna. there are no interviews with any of her contemporaries. there are no interviews in general (at least with people who aren’t related to her)! it starts off with donna singing love to love you baby and then goes into her narrating her life. then it cuts and she’s singing again and then we’re back to home…
