Interstellar 2014
genuinely a mind-bending experience. thank goodness for astr 1210 and 1220 at uva, otherwise i wouldn't have understood even with helpful explanations. huge scale, great score, and an intense emotional journey. i'm still very scared of space, and this movie only served to heighten that. also much more coherent than most nolan movies, which i liked.

The Karate Kid 1984
did not remember this film at all. ralph macchio is like the least athletic-looking guy they could have possibly chosen. surprisingly heartfelt and you do really root for daniel larusso, even though he's irritating. it's a classic for a reason.
