  Not the most narrative heavy film but still a heartbreaking and beautiful portrait to a Toronto so familiar, yet rarely showcased: the Immigrant Families, Black Youths, Working Class, & West Indian Communities who shape this city. The slow build up is held together by incredible performances and intimate cinematography. My only complaint is that the runtime overstays it’s welcome by about 20-30 minutes.

  Also was not aware until the screening that this film is based upon a book! Will be checking out David Chariandy’s work next to see if it gives me a new perspective on the film.
