I will admit I wasn't sure going in, I did wonder if this was one of those "worst movies of all time" that's in reality a bit mid and boring.
Luckily I was wrong and I was just used to bad movies going full retard from the get-go, but Anaconda does build to the heights of absurdity very well. It doesn't blow its load immediately, it edges you for that CGI snake goodness.

Paul Verhoeven writes satire like you're as dumb as he knows you are.
It's a really good time, obviously, and despite quite how much CGI is in this movie still holds up very well. You can tell they used CGI as a tool rather than a medium. Phil Tippett was a name I was very glad to see in the credits.

I like a spy thriller as much as anyone, so I don't know why they chose to leave out all the thrills. To make a movie like this work it either needs to be well shot and flashy or have a supremely tight structure. Black Bag fails at both as far as I'm concerned. Combined with some really poor acting performances.
