Over the past two years, Babylon has really grown on me. A big reason for that is the history and appreciation of cinema class I took, which helped deepen my understanding of film. At first, I thought it was a bit overwhelming with its over-the-top take on Hollywood’s golden age, but as I learned more about the history of cinema, I started to appreciate the way it shows the darker side of ambition and excess. Chazelle’s vision feels more impactful now. A bold take on the highs and lows of the film industry.
