perfect mix of campy horror and cartoonish comedy while playing on the expectations and image of the early universal films. they understood that the money was with Lou Costello being placed in weird scenarios and Béla doing a fantastic job reprising dracula near the end of his career.

Godzilla vs. Hedorah 1971
More of a spiritual successor to the original than any of the other sequels. Despite my love for how goofy they are, Hedorah is able to hit a deeper thematic connection to the original while also adding its own unique aspects to the franchise.
