A Most Violent Year 2014
This is an intriguing story about a man trying to run an honorable business in a dishonorable industry (heating oil in NYC). The lead character is very convincing at showing how someone can face evil and avoid taking the easy way out when that way is simply wrong. It also shows how he has to handle people close to him doing things they think are helping but are just making things worse.

This movie is apparently loosely based on the life of Joy Mangano, a successful entrepreneur. It portrays a crazy life interwoven with her drive to succeed with her business idea, the Miracle Mop (which I remember from when I was a kid). So much of this movie works well and all of the actors were awesome. Even Robert de Niro, who seems to be in his element as a true dick. :-) Jennifer Lawrence, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Bradley Cooper…
