The Exorcist 1973
This movie might not be as scary as it was before, but it greatest strength was showing and not telling.
Few horror movies these days refrain from telling you information you don't need to know. But this movie gives you just enough.
The scares are subtle but are there, the slow build up to the horror is effective, and I'm surprised how quiet the movie was most of the run time. The film is disturbing at times and it makes you dread.
I respect the sense of direction it has, and I still believe it holds up 51 years later.

An interesting premise followed by a boring passive protagonist and a certain structure that gets stale really fast.This film had me wondering "so what?" The whole time. All the thing they built up goes nowhere and an ending that was a let down.
