Weathering with You 2019
I’m starting to notice a pattern with Shinkai’s movies in terms of their plots but they’re so good it didn’t even matter. Animation is still absolute peak. Soundtrack is almost as good as Your Name’s.
I think a lot of people view this film through the wrong lens which is that it is a commentary on climate change and it is very clear to me that Shinkai did his best to dissuade people from thinking that way. Once you realize…

I loved this animation style with the painting background and hand drawn people.
The story had so much potential but ended up falling a bit flat towards the end. It felt like a long trailer that could’ve been extended to a full length movie. You can truly see the potential in Makoto Shinkai that rings loud in Your Name. and Suzume.
