In the Heat of the Night 1967
That slap scene, where Tibbs slaps him back… that is a whole other level of brilliance. Like, it's frustrating and insane that Hollywood is still reluctant to display THAT kind of thing. I mean when was the last time you saw that in an american movie? Heck, when's the last time you have seen a gay man slap back against a bigot? Or a woman slapping back?
I admit, the acting in this is unbelievably hokey, but the seismic moments are monumental.

Ok, I DO like the look of this movie. And I just have a love for films with a woman that kicks ass and all the action is wire-fu. Having the villains be a church-y corporate cult is a plus.
