I Am Cuba 1964
I had never heard of this movie before and I'm honestly not sure how. The story is deeply complex and totally engrossing with an impressive array of very compelling characters, and the cinematography is beyond creative. The Loco Amor performance/dance scene is permanently etched in my mind, as well as the sound of the sharecropper family cutting down sugar cane later on. Sounds and camera movements serve as their own characters, eerie and powerful in a way that approaches the spiritual. I just didn't know movies could be this good
