Really wanted to like this one as I think Bong Joon Ho is brilliant but this really missed the mark for me.

Honestly just felt like the movie was all over the place in a way that felt rushed and confused. The acting often felt ridiculous and over the top. The political and societal themes were too on the nose for my taste. Frankly was pretty bored for the entire movie, which was surprising as the action was fairly nonstop.…

Pretty daunting movie to dive into with the 3.5 hr runtime, subtitles, black and white but man is this an epic movie. Has everything you could ever want in a film: incredible character development, awesome battle scenes, intelligent and beautiful storytelling, romance, comedy, and thought provoking scenes and depth.

Had to listen to an equally long podcast about the movie to really understand some of the context, technical marvels and symbolism, so I’m excited to rewatch one day and pay closer attention to all the things I missed.

I had this one on my list for the high praise and critical acclaim it receives but honestly I dreaded watching it. I thought it would be boring and ballet is definitely not my thing but I could not have been more wrong.

This is hands down one of the most beautiful films I have ever watched; you cannot convince me this was shot in 1948. Shameful that directors with all the technical advances and improved techniques of today consistently put of trash that doesn't hold a candle to this film made over 70 years ago.

    Truly a work of art!
