i first read Gone Girl in its novel form in 2015 on a bus ride from Buffalo to NYC nursing an awful head cold. it was actually a pretty effective distraction from being sick; i ended up reading it cover to cover in one go. the interplay between Nick's and Amy's distinct voices was intriguing, and the story proceeded unlike any other that i'd read before.
