The black & white cinematography was stunning... They don't make 'em like this anymore. The whole thing felt so raw and real. When the bull started to rage I wanted to flee. Painful to watch La Motta's demise which is displayed through DeNiro's epic transformation into that ugly beast. Bombshell Cathy Moriarty makes up for the eyesore.

The Dark Knight Rises 2012
My favourite of the trilogy. It was a great climax, with some serious twists & turns.
Tom Hardy as Bane is an outstanding villain. Both him & the Joker were so theatrical. I know the Joker wasn’t in this but I mean Nolan must have a bit of a flair for it.

Kingdom of Heaven 2005
I watched this in the context of a men’s retreat and they explained a man’s journey of initiation and this film captures it perfectly so it was immensely enjoyable in that context.
I also realised that Ridley Scott loves to do these epic historical battles. He’s got the masculine heart pumping inside his rib cage for sure.
It got me thinking about Christianity at the time of the crusades (though I doubt it’s very accurate) but enjoyable to think about nonetheless.
