  The fact that there are Yankees hailing this movie as being greater than any Hollywood flick is enough of a victory for the Soviets. 

  There’s a certain campy feeling about Soviet films that’s been lost in modern cinema— over-the-top physical comedy, funny editing gags, unexpected goofs that just make no sense— nothing can compete.
       There’s a reason this movie has become a cultural icon. It’s a culmination and in itself a representation of classic Soviet cinema.
