Return to Seoul is much more than the “let me fuck around in my 20s and find out” type of movie. I see it keep being compared to The Worst Person in The World, and I personally don’t think that comparison does Seoul justice at all.

Seoul analyzes the Eastern v. Western culture divide, adoption, grief, growth/change, and “home” so succinctly it rarely feels forced or overstuffed. While this hits the similar chords of “coming-of-age/lost in your 20s” movies, the ability to…

Yup, this film was made for me. From the family dynamics and how it reflects my own to the Hayadeh, this is an Omeed ™ film through and through.

In his debut, Panahi pays his respects to some of the godfathers of Iranian cinema, Kiarostami, and his own father, Jafar. He also is able to incorporate great comedy in the midst of a serious situation. Also the experimental aspects of the film worked and never overplayed its hand. Beyond happy that this movie lived up to my expectations. bring back the old movie poster

A kinda cliched story with jumbled timelines … but who gives a fuck/able to ignore it when you see yourself on screen!!!

I love being Iranian - American and I think The Persian Version captures the joy and challenges the diaspora faces. Also I have to show love to a movie that dedicated scenes to Googoosh and Ghormeh Sabazi!!

this was the perfect depiction of iranian society- you had the tarof, the lies, the immaculate food, the drama, the stereotypical interior design, the value of family, the stubbornness of Iranians, and importance of reputation in such a society.

yet, i’m so proud of my culture and wouldn’t want it any other way. the family dancing scene made me miss iran so much 😭😭😭

farhadi is a master of his craft! give him a best director nod and amir jadidi a beat actor nod you cowards! the rest of ensemble was incredible, each performance elevated the other
