  I only give half star ratings to movies with (in my eyes) no redeeming qualities. The only movie I’ve given that to is Disenchanted (and I stand by it). It Comes at Night almost joined that exclusive club but was saved by one element: the exploration of sacrificing one’s humanity for self-preservation. This, and only this, was well executed. I would go as far to say that this was the only thing that kept me tuned into the movie.
