  watched for a class on ethics in research. i have v v mixed feelings ab this one, i think that the story is incredibly compelling and one that’s worth telling, but i can’t help but feel that the film makers were somewhat ingenuine in their retelling. they neither explored the reasons why the study was carried out in the first place nor discussed too deeply how the siblings were affected by the separation and subsequent reunion beyond a few brief anecdotes. it all felt kinda surface level i think there was a better way to do it

  this is amazing this is why i love movies!!! i love people so so much and i feel that film as a medium is an unparalleled representation of the beauty that is personhood and this film is an excellent piece of evidence for that!

  i need to rewatch this movie when i’m not crossed as fuck to get a real sense of it but i don’t think me being crossed as fuck should discount any of what i’ve said so far… anyways i feel so lucky to be a person yay!!

  i love bong joon ho’s style sm i could not say enough about it- the way he weaves together incredibly disparate emotions like fear, humor, anger, and despair is so dynamic and so representative of what it is to be human. of course this style couldn’t work without an equally dynamic and talented cast, and while the entire cast is excellent robert pattinson and naomi ackie really shine here.
