The movie always feels very muddled in it's tone. It’s trying very hard to take it self seriously with themes like love, loss and illness while always forcing jokes that seem to miss the mark. I appreciate Taika Waititis attempts at an homage to cheesy 80’s classics but these attempts, like the rest of the film, feel confused.
