  My mother introduced me to Alexandre Dumas’ books as a young kid. Count and Musketeers being her favourite books of all time. So, in comes my hesitation when another film tries to capture it.   the urbanist in me watched this primarily to see San Francisco in the 70s. it revealed a pretty grimey albeit stunning portrait of a city.

  i should dislike this movie upon current reflection of the politics but damn. the score, don siegel’s visuals, the city itself, and that iconic “do you feel lucky” line just won’t let me. a time capsule of the city in the nixon-era.
