Easily Lynch's most direct and "least artsy" film, but I'd never say its unlike him given how warm, hopeful, and kind it is. Wonderfully shot and acted, using a lot of subtle, long takes for these small vignettes. In doing so, it lets the humanity of the interactions of these people and their genuine kindness to one another shine through. This is a Lynch movie anyone can love.

Lost Highway 1997
Clearly a response to the past decade of his career, Lost Highway is a distinctly angry, almost spiteful indictment of the type of villainy Lynch pits himself against. This isn't to say it's inconsistent with his ideals as a writer. In fact, the uniquely mean atmosphere of the film highlights what's so great about Lynch's visual style and empathetic worldview.

Eraserhead 1977
While watching it may feel like a nightmare, at its core, Eraserhead certainly doesn't feel come across like one. Instead, it's a testament to rising above your circumstances, facing your struggles head on, self-acceptance and finding a sense of inner peace.
