  I saw this in a theater alone. When the credits rolled I felt like I had been physically beaten.  The score, Daniel Day Lewis in surround sound turned up to 11…
  It was incredible, but I wasn’t sure I enjoyed it.

  After a couple rewatches, I’m quite certain that this movie is the best chemistry project in American film - the components (actor, script, filmmaker, composer, cinematographer, and editor) all at the peak of their powers, playing their favorite piece, in perfect harmony.

  DDL improvised the speech in which Plainview is pitching the development of the well to the townsfolk.
