I will always love this franchise with all my heart and soul. I’m looking forward to all the mental gymnastics I’m about to do regarding my own reckoning with this final installment, as we are to believe it is (and I do hope it is). I think I did a pretty good job of not getting overly hyped and taking great pains to stay spoiler-free before this first watch. Today was a weird day with a weird mood and I…

Helen Shivers chase/death sequence is a real all timer. The sheer longevity, how many times she escapes, excellent screaming, that great silver dress, seeing those explosions of fireworks - punctuation marks of the light at the end of the tunnel (alley), those quick cuts of her bloody hands, that overhead shot of the parade proximity, the sound design of the marching band and firework pops so no one has a chance of hearing her. Amazing tension, great acting, and just so fucking sad! I will be purchasing the Helen Shivers Croaker Queen shirt from the legasequel.

Knew I would love this given my affection for 28 Days Later, but I didn’t expect just how much. Gorgeous, glorious, wild filmmaking with a story that swerves in a direction I wasn’t expecting. Wonderful central performance from a young actor who is asked a lot and aces it. Everything works. The ending slaps. So many moments made me hold my breath and just scream about how much I love great movies (in my head, because I’m not rude in a cinema).

Saw a review say there are no laughs in this. Incorrect. I laughed a lot when Dakota Johnson’s character said she made 80K in NYC.

I’m glad people are loving this. I enjoyed parts, but it started to lose me after a while. Very well cast. Wish we had some more substantial time with Lois. Brosnahan’s lovable, and the interview scene between her Lois Lane and Corenswet’s Clark Kent had me leaning forward. Everything with Jimmy Olsen’s the pits. Visually it’s fine, certainly a notch above some recent comic book movies in that it’s actually colorful and actually bright. Left field Noah and the Whale…

Extremely nostalgic movie for me and always, always, always delightful to revisit. Performances go crazy, the costumes, the production design, everything, all of it, so much fun.

The first one was fine. This one is great. Utilizes the premise so effectively, in no small part thanks to Naomi Scott’s fantastic performance. Her screams in that car crash scene alone will stick with me. Unnerving, stylish, convincing fake pop songs, super fun time. Also, auditions to be a smile demon person must be hysterical for casting directors.

I really enjoyed this. I love when a Big Movie has a seemingly “smaller scale” focus that is fully rooted in character (see M:I Rogue Nation). Florence Pugh’s Yelena is a gift to the MCU.
