I’d forgotten to log this. How could I..? I think about it all the time.

Watching this film was a serious dealbreaker for me. Made me realize that the process of filmmaking can become the focal point. I’d previously heard about documentary filmmakers who do more community-centric projects but 1) I hadn’t seen those films before and 2) couldn’t imagine it being done in Iran.

This was filmed close to my hometown in Iran and I could recognize the dialect, knew the names of towns. Precious.

I’m definitely getting in touch with the filmmaker and begging him to talk to me.

Years have passed since I first decided that I needed to watch this film, and on a "random" rainy day, while I was tiredly weaving my carpet and Yashar was sat next to me, and I was trying to steal glances inbetween the knots, I was relishing in the beauty of this sexual-religious coming-of-age film that is as much a painting as it is a story. It's coming of age, coming into sexuality, with and against the backdrop of religious iconography.
What else can I say? It was beautiful and watching it felt like I was being hand-fed flakes of gold.
