The Substance 2024
It’s missing a bit of substance. But in hindsight I almost fell for its homages and remnants of other movies from where it takes it’s roots from.
From sprawling as The Thing Carpenteresqe peace finding, ripping and bone crippling through black swan or species, to splashing as Carrie blood fountains.
If you take it for what it is, quirky A24esque gore camp comedy it shines a bit, even tho the ending kind of boils it down to a bit of wholesome meaninglessness. What a mess. The makeup and mask in a good way and the bathroom floor as well.
